Providing Arts Education in Our Schools is Essential

Murrieta Valley Unified School District offers exceptional access to the visual and performing arts for all students including band, choir, drama, dance & visual arts. Arts learning is an essential component of a comprehensive education. Appreciating and understand the arts promotes critical thinking, inclusion and empathy, thus supports overall academic achievement in grades Pre-Kindergarten through twelve and beyond!

An arts education is associated with higher attendance and graduation rates, improved test scores, advanced achievement in English, Language Arts, literacy and math skills.

Arts education is not only a discipline of its own, it also reinforces learning and academic achievement in the other curricular areas. A report by “Americans for the Arts” found that young people who participate regularly in the arts are four times more likely to be recognized for academic achievement than those who do not participate.
